Omir Fernandez found the back of the net with a header from an in-swinging corner kick to level the score at 1-1 and earn a point at Red Bull Arena with Houston Dynamo FC.
John Tolkin, in his return to the Starting XI, drove a corner to the mouth of the goal, which Fernandez headed home.
Tolkin’s assist was his third of the season, which is tied for third most in MLS and the eighth of his career. The Chatham, New Jersey native tied his single season career-high in assists with three.
Fernandez scored his first goal of the season, the 10th of his career and his fifth at Red Bull Arena. It was his first goal since April 9th, 2022 against CF Montreal.
New York drew level following a 67th minute goal by the Dynamo.
The Red Bulls had 18 shots on goal and 65% possession in the match.
The Red Bulls continued their unbeaten streak at home, extending it to 3-0-3 in their past six matches at Red Bull Arena.
