Patryk Klimala, Omir Fernandez and Tom Barlow all found the back of the net as the New York Red Bulls topped the San Jose Earthquakes, 3-1, at PayPal Park to open their 2022 MLS season.
Klimala scored the first goal of the season for New York, and the first goal of the game, chipping in a shot from point-blank range to beat San Jose's keeper.
Following a goal by San Jose, RBNY quickly found the back of the net again, with Omir Fernandez slipping it through the goalkeeper's legs.
Tom Barlow finished off the match with a final goal, effectively ending the match at 3-1 in stoppage time.
Homegrown players Daniel Edelman and Serge Ngoma both made their MLS debuts against the Quakes.
Ngoma tied the franchise record as the youngest player to make his MLS debut, with Eddie Gaven, coming on at 16 years and 232 days.
New York is back on the road for Match 2, heading north of the border to take on Toronto FC, on Saturday, March 5.
