The New York Red Bulls beat FC Dallas, 2-1, in the 2024 Home Opener at Red Bull Arena.

With the seven points earned through three matches, the start to the 2024 season is tied for most points earned through three matches in franchise history (2004, 2007, 2015, 2020).

A penalty kick goal from Forsberg and a second game-winning goal from Lewis Morgan in as many weeks put New York on top. Forsberg assisted Morgan's goal.

Morgan drew the penalty kick in the 30th minute, and Forsberg stepped up for the shot and slotted the ball away into the bottom left corner to give New York the lead.

"I'm happy we got to win, undefeated so far, I think we're taking steps every day," Emil Forsberg said. "We didn't play our best game in the second half. But we stood through, we fight for each other and these kind of wins you accept that either way. I'm just happy about the team performance and we move on."

New York would double their lead in the second half, when forward Elias Manoel sent Forsberg on a fast break, which allowed the midfielder to find Morgan, who completed the finish in the 54th minute.

Morgan has recorded goals in back-to-back matches with both of them being game-winning goals.

"When you win games like that, it's really rewarding," Morgan said.

Morgan’s goal was his second of the MLS season and the 23rd of his career in MLS regular season play. The midfielder scored his eighth career MLS goal at Red Bull Arena and his 10th across all competitions. Morgan has recorded goals in back-to-back matches with both of them being game-winning goals.

The assist from Forsberg on Morgan’s goal was the first of his career with New York.

Carlos Coronel earned his 41st career win with the Red Bulls.

The Red Bulls are tied for the most win at home since 2010 in MLS with 134 and New York have earned the most points in that timespan as well with 453.

"There's been three games, so we know that the works not done, we need to keep progressing," Morgan said.

Since 2015, New York has posted a 113-21-28 when scoring the first goal of the season. The Red Bulls have earned 519 points since 2014, which is the second most in MLS only behind Seattle Sounders FC.

New York will head back on the road to Lower.com Field to face off against defending MLS Cup Champions Columbus Crew on Saturday, March 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
