With John Tolkin in health and safety protocols and Carlos Coronel out with a non-COVID illness, A mixed New York lineup failed to get on the scoresheet.
A goal from Ariel Lassiter put Miami up in the 29th minute, and they finished the job in the 88th minute when Robert Taylor found the back of the net.
New York had 15 shots in the match, compared to Miami's 11, but they failed to find a breakthrough. This is only the third time this season across all competitions that the Red Bulls have been held scoreless.
The Red Bulls will now look to rebound on Wednesday as they take on Charlotte FC in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16.
