The New York Red Bulls opened the 2020 MLS season with a 3-2 win against FC Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon.
After an assist from midfielder Florian Valot, Kyle Duncan netted the first goal of the game in the 16th minute.
In the 30th minute, Valot sent a low-pass to Kaku, and the Paraguayan international converted the Red Bulls’ second of the day with a well-placed left-footed shot.
In the first half, the Red Bulls took 12 shots, three of them on target. FC Cincinnati finished the first 45 minutes without a shot on target.
To start off the second half in the 46th minute, Allan Cruz got one back for FC Cincinnati.
With 20 minutes left in the game, Duncan got the ball at the right flank and found Daniel Royer without a marker in the left side of the field, allowing the Austrian forward to dribble his way into the box and create space to take a hard shot to goal. The ball ended in the back of the net, and the Red Bulls took a two-goal lead in the game.
In the 83rd minute, JĂ¼rgen Locadia found himself with a one on one against goalkeeper David Jensen, who although was able to block Locadia’s first attempt, the ball came back to Locadia who scored the 3-2.
