HARRISON, N.J. (April 2, 2016) - Former New York Red Bulls Homegrown Player Matt Miazga started, and played the full 90 minutes in his Premier League debut for Chelsea F.C., a shutout victory versus Aston Villa, 4-0. The defender is the first American player to play in a Premier League game for Chelsea.
The 20-year-old appeared in 34 games, including 30 starts, in three seasons for the Red Bulls after competing in the Red Bulls academy for more than three years.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 26th minute. Alexandre Pato added a second goal just before halftime as Pedro netted twice in the second half to earn the win for the Blues at Villa Park.
