METRO MONDAY: Taylor's brace downs D.C. United in 2004 home opener -

The MetroStars defeated arch-rival D.C. United 3-2, courtesy of two goals by newly acquired Jamaican forward Fabian Taylor at Giants Stadium in front of 31,419 fans.

Fourteen-year-old Freddy Adu scored his first career MLS goal for D.C., but the Metros held off United to increase their record to 2-0-0 for six points and first place in the Eastern Conference.

Adu's 75th-minute goal, which made him the youngest player to score in an MLS game by almost two full years, brought United back to within one. But they couldn't overcome the Metro blitz earlier in the half that saw substitute Taylor's strikes sandwich a fine header from John Wolyniec.
