HARRISON, N.J. (February 26, 2025) – New York Red Bulls have promoted Zach Cogen to Head of Athlete Rehabilitation and Ryan Brooks to Director of Academy Operations, the club announced today.
Cogen started with New York in March 2023, where he served as Senior First Team Physical Therapist until January 2025. In this role, he helped midfielder Lewis Morgan recover from subsequent hip injuries, that won him 2024 MLS Comeback Player of the Year.
“I’m excited to continue growing the program at Red Bull New York” Says Cogen. “I look forward to enhancing the quality of rehabilitation throughout this fantastic club, with the goal of returning our athletes to elite levels of performance.”
Before New York, Cogen was a Physical Therapist at UCLA Athletics (August 2018- September 2019), Performance Physical Therapist with EXOS (July 2019-September 2021), and Director of Rehabilitation at DC United (September 2021- March 2023)
Brooks joined the Red Bulls in July 2019 and served as Senior Manager Academy Business Operations until January 2025. Prior to New York, Brooks spent time as an Academy General Manager with Chicago Fire FC (July 2014-June 2015) and Minnesota United FC (March 2017-July 2019) as well as a stint as Player Development Coordinator at Columbus Crew (June 2015-March 2017).

Alex Bunt has been hired as Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach. Before New York, Bunt served nine and a half years with Red Bull. From April 2015 to March 2019, he was a Private Strength and Conditioning Coach for three-time Olympic medalist and two-time World-Champion Alpine Skier Lindsey Vonn. Bunt was then a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the organization from April 2019 to December 2023. Shortly after, he was promoted to Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for Red Bull from December 2023 to January 2025.
