HARRISON, N.J. (December 2, 2015) – New York Red Bulls Academy product Brandon Allen was named a semifinalist for the 2015 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy. Allen, a senior at Georgetown University, is among 15 semifinalists from NCAA Division I schools around the country that have been marked as a contender for the 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in college soccer.
A native of Old Bridge, N.J., Allen set the record for most goals in program history when he earned his 50th career goal in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. He completed his final college season with a team-high 12 goals, and provided seven assists. Two of the forward’s goals came in the BIG EAST Tournament en route to clinching Georgetown’s first BIG EAST Tournament Championship in program history. Allen was unanimously elected First Team All-BIG EAST and named two-time BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, two-time BIG EAST Honor Roll, and two-time CollegeSoccerNews Team of the Week.
Allen played for the New York Red Bulls Academy during the 2010-11 season and scored 28 goals in 24 appearances, the most goals scored by any player in the Academy that year. During that time, he was selected to the U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team and earned his first cap at the Lisbon International Tournament.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual intercollegiate award administered by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and presented annually at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. Three men’s finalists will be named on Friday, Dec. 11 and this year’s trophy presentation and banquet will take place Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.
