New York Red Bulls II will play four matches during the month of April, with three coming against new opponents.
Saturday, April 2 – FC Tulsa (ONEOK Field, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
New York will travel to Oklahoma to open the month, facing FC Tulsa for the first time in club history. Tulsa has qualified for the postseason in each of the last two seasons and added players such as Brian Brown in the offseason to go for the third. The club also added defensive pieces after allowing 54 goals in 2021.
Friday, April 15 – Rio Grande Valley FC (MSU Soccer Park, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
Red Bulls II will take on another first-time opponent, Rio Grande Valley FC, in the third home match of the 2022 season. The match will also mark the first Western Conference opponent New York will take on this year. Rio Grande Valley is another postseason club from 2021, as they defeated Phoenix Rising FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals before falling to San Antonio FC.
Saturday, April 23 – Tampa Bay Rowdies (MSU Soccer Park, 1:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
Forward Jake LaCava, who is on loan to Tampa Bay from the New York Red Bulls, will make his return to MSU Soccer Park on April 23. LaCava is currently tied for the USL Championship lead in goals with three. The match will mark the 12th meeting between the two clubs, with Tampa Bay leading the series 6-3-2. The clubs have each won three matches in the six meetings in New York.
Saturday, April 30 – Detroit City FC (Keyworth Stadium, 4:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
New York will conclude the month with a trip to face one of USL Championship’s newest members, Detroit City FC, at historic Keyworth Stadium. The former NISA powerhouses brought in forward Antoine Hoppenot and midfielder Abdoulaye Diop, two players with USL Championship experience. So far in 2022, Detroit has played low-scoring matches, falling 1-0 to San Antiono, defeating Charleston 1-0, and drawing Pittsburgh 1-1.
