Get to know who the Red Bulls will be playing in their upcoming matchup:
How They’re Doing
Charlotte FC’s inaugural season will end at Red Bull Arena on Sunday after a 2-2 draw against Columbus on Wednesday officially eliminated them from postseason contention.
The expansion side didn’t go down without a fight, though, going unbeaten in their last four matches including wins over NYCFC and Philadelphia Union.
Charlotte FC made their stadium a fortress this season, recording 10 wins in 2022, but their form away from home doomed them, only taking 11 points from away matches all season.
Head-to-head history
This will be the second regular season matchup between the Red Bulls and the league’s newest expansion team.
Their first meeting came at Bank of America on June 11, where Charlotte ran out 2-0 winners behind goals from Ben Bender and Derrick Jones.
The Red Bulls were held to one total shot on goal.
Their only other previous meeting came in the U.S. Open Cup on May 25, as New York prevailed, 3-1, at MSU Soccer Park to advance to the quarterfinals.
Player to watch – Forward Daniel RÃos
After only having two goals in 24 previous league appearances for Charlotte, forward Daniel RÃos has been on a tear this week.
RÃos followed up a four-goal performance against Philadelphia Union with a goal in a comeback 2-2 draw against Columbus Crew on Wednesday.
The Mexican national was traded from Nashville SC to Charlotte FC before the season in exchange for $350,000 in general allocation money.
Across all competitions, he’s scored 14 goals during his time with both clubs.
