New York holds the advantage in its history with Cincinnati with a record of 5-4-3.
The two sides last met during the U.S. Open Cup in May, in which a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena forced the match into penalty kicks, ultimately giving Cincinnati the win 5-3.
Cincinnati brought the Red Bulls’ season to an end last year, defeating them in the MLS Cup Playoffs with a 2-1 victory from behind.
Player to Watch: Midfielder Luciano Acosta
Named the No. 10 to watch in the MLS during the preseason, Cincinnati’s Acosta has delivered. 10 goals, seven assists, and 52 key passes later, he'll be taking on the Red Bulls with the Orange and Blue on Wednesday night.
On Saturday, Acosta tallied a goal and an assist against Charlotte. His performance earned him Team of the Matchday honors, Acosta’s fourth time making the team this season. Acosta’s other accolades include Goal of the Matchday for Matchday 17 and Player of the Matchday for Matchday 14.
The Rosario, Argentina native was named to the 2023 MLS All-Star squad and is a final contender for team captain.
After playing for D.C. United for three seasons, Acosta joined Cincinnati in 2021, where he has totaled 27 goals and 36 assists so far.
A consistent, prolific scorer, Acosta will definitely be one to watch on Wednesday.
