Get to know who the Red Bulls will be playing in their upcoming matchup with The Other Side:
How They’re Doing
Despite becoming the first team in league history to win the CONCACAF Champions League, the Seattle Sounders had what many would call a down year when compared to their usual standards, failing to make the playoffs for the first time in 13 seasons.
This season, however, things seem like they are back to normal in the Emerald City
Despite having to alter their preseason plans due to the Club World Cup, they rattled off three wins in their first three matches and four in their first six. Lead by performances of forward Jordan Morris and goalkeeper Stefan Frei, they have positioned themselves near the top of the Western Conference standings.
Lately, though, they have hit a bit of a skid with only one win in their last six matches across all competitions.
Lumen Field has continued to be a fortress for the Sounders, accounting for four of their seven wins in 2023.
Head-to-Head History
This will be the 15th matchup between the two clubs that are located over 2,700 miles away from each other.
The Sounders own a slight 6-5-3 edge in the series, with the last match between the two at Lumen Field coming in 2019.
The first MLS match in club history for the Sounders came against the Red Bulls, a 3-0 Seattle win.
Player to Watch- Forward Jordan Morris
Jordan Morris’ production so far this season has put him in the early MLS MVP conversation.
He has been carrying the Seattle offense with a team-high eight goals in his fourteen appearances so far this season. The next highest total for Seattle is two.
Four of those goals came on March 26 against Kansas City, however. He is currently on a eight-match scoreless run.
Minus five appearances for Swansea City, Morris has been a lifer in Seattle. In 184 appearances, he has 60 goals and 26 assists.
When Morris is in form, Seattle is a tough beast to beat. His name will definitely be one of the ones to watch on Saturday night.
