New York Red Bulls II looks to extend its five-game unbeaten streak on Sunday, May 1, when New York takes on Charlotte Independence at Red Bull Arena at 4 p.m. ET.

New York currently stands in second place of the Eastern Conference with one game in hand on the leaders, Louisville City FC. Red Bulls II is 3-0-2 this season with 11 points and a +7 goal differential.


This is the first of two meetings between the clubs in 2016 and the third all-time. Last season, the teams played to a draw in two head-to-head matchups.


New York looks to extend its unbeaten streak to six games after a win. Its current five game unbeaten streak is a club record.


Red Bulls II has not conceded a goal in the last 405 minutes, a club record. With four consecutive clean sheets, New York has not allowed a goal since the 45th minute of the home opener against Toronto FC II on March 26.


Goalkeeper Rafael Diaz, who has stepped in for the injured Ryan Meara, has completed back-to-back clean sheets. The 24-year-old has made eight saves this season in two games played. The ‘keeper is yet to surrender a goal in 168 minutes played.


Dan Metzger scored the game-winning goal for NYRB II last weekend, thanks to an assist from Stefano Bonomo. The goal was the midfielder’s first professional goal and was later named to the USL Team of the Week for his performance. At least one member of NYRB II has been named to each edition of the USL Team of the Week this season.


Charlotte Independence enters Sunday’s game on a two-game winning streak. The Independence is 3-2-0 with back-to-back wins against Charleston Battery and Richmond Kickers.


Jorge Herrera leads the team with two goals and two assists, including one of each in last weekend’s win against Richmond. Enzo Martinez, who has two goals this season, tallied two assists against New York in 2015.
