NYRB II takes three points in Louisville

Red Bulls II won its first game of the season on the road against Louisville City FC, 2-0. Debutant Junior Flemmings tallied one goal and assisted Brandon Allen’s third of the season in the victory.

When Vincent Bezecourt slammed a shot from distance, Louisville’s goalkeeper parried it away, but Flemmings followed up the shot, beat his defender and slotted it away at the near post.

In the second half, Konrad Plewa intercepted a pass and played in Flemmings on the right flank. Flemmings ran to the endline and teed up Allen at the top of the box who converted the chance to help New York earn three points on the road.

Red Bulls II ranked No. 3 in USL Power Rankings

Junior Flemmings named to USL Team of the Week

New York Red Bulls II forward Junior Flemmings has been named to the USL Team of the Week for his one goal and assist performance against Louisville City FC. The 20-year-old Jamaican youth international was making his debut for Red Bulls II.

The forward netted his only shot of the game in the 29th minute and assisted Brandon Allen’s goal in the 79th minutes.

Next Up: Bethlehem Steel FC

New York Red Bulls II is set to host Bethlehem Steel FC at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. This will be the first USL regular season meeting between the clubs.

Former NYRB II player, Bolu Akinyode, who has since joined Bethlehem, will serve a one-game suspension this weekend after receiving a red card last weekend vs. FC Cincinnati. The Steel fell in their home opener last weekend against Cincinnati, 2-1, to drop to 1-1-0.

In preseason, New York hosted a friendly against Bethlehem at the Red Bulls Training Facility. Noah Powder scored for NYRB II, only to be answered by Eric Ayuk. The game finished in a draw, 1-1.
