Red Bulls midfielder Lloyd Sam has been nominated for MLS Goal of the Week for his 54th minute curler against Sporting KC on Sunday.
Minutes after Sporting took a 1-0 lead, Red Bulls midfielder Felipe found Sam at the top of the penalty area. Sam drove left before taking a clever touch back to the right, wrong-footing Kansas City defender Matt Besler, and launched a shot that curled past KC ‘keeper Luis Marin and inside the right post.
Sam is up against Seattle’s Clint Dempsey, Toronto FC’s Jozy Altidore, NYC FC’s Mix Diskerud and LA’s Robbie Keane.
Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursday. For complete coverage of the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week — including an archive of all of this season's nominees and winners — click here.
