New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles has earned a MLS Save of the Week nomination for a key save in the Red Bulls’ 2-2 draw with D.C. United over the weekend.
In the 19th minute, D.C. midfielder Chris Rolfe intercepted a pass in front of the Red Bulls penalty area, and cut in on goal from the left side. With a step on the defense, Rolfe had time to fire a low shot towards the near post. Robles was quick to react, darting off of his line to cut down the angle as Rolfe charged in, and was able to deflect the shot away with a sliding stop.
Robles was credited with three saves in the contest. Through four games he carries a 2-0-2 record, with 14 saves and an even 1.00 goals against average. His clean sheet against D.C. on March 22 was the 20th of his career in 76 games played.
