Red Bulls Academy beat Independiente del Valla (Ecuador) on Saturday, coming back from a one-goal deficit to win on penalty kicks, finishing in third place of the Generation adidas Cup Champions Division.
The team lost to Flamengo (Brazil) on penalty kicks in the semifinals on Thursday, leading them into the third-place game against Independiente del Valla.
New York finished the highest of any MLS side in the competition.
Red Bulls Academy player Ben Mines took home the Golden Boot trophy for the tournament after scoring six goals.
