New York Red Bulls II will travel to Indianapolis to face Indy Eleven in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals of the 2019 USL Championship Playoffs.
NYRB II and Indy split the regular season series with each respective team winning on their home field.
On April 28. at MSU Soccer Park, Indy Eleven came out of the gate running, scoring in the 13th minute off of a Dane Kelly strike. Indy would dominate the first half of the match, with NYRB II not really developing any big chances, that all changed in the second half. In the 60th minute, Tom Barlow was brought down in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Midfielder Jared Stroud would step up and convert from the spot to level the match. Ten minutes later, Vincent Bezecourt would loop a ball over Indy’s backline for Barlow to run on to and score the game-winner for NYRB II.
The two teams would meet again in the beginning of September at Lucas Oil Stadium. The match was back and forth affair, with both teams generating great chances and Evan Louro making some saves that kept NYRB II in the game. Despite NYRB II holding most of the possession, Kelly scored the game-winning header in the 82nd minute to give Indy the three points at home.
NYRB II and Indy Eleven will meet for the third time this season on October 26 at IUPUI Carroll Stadium, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. Coverage is available on ESPN+.
