HARRISON, N.J. (June 29, 2023) – Red Bulls Academy product Davi Alexandre has been selected for his first MLS NEXT All-Star game, the league announced today. Alexandre had participated in a majority of matches for the U17 side in MLS NEXT league play and earned a spot on the All-Star roster this summer.
The 16-year-old defender has played within the Red Bull Academy system for multiple years, featuring in the U14, U15 and U17 squads. Alexandre made his professional debut with New York Red Bulls II last season on August 3, 2022, becoming the fourth-youngest player to appear in a match in club history.
On April 20, 2023, the Queens native signed his first professional contract with New York Red Bulls II for the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season. Next year, he will join the first team on an MLS contract as a homegrown through the 2026 season.
Since signing his contract, he has appeared in six matches for Red Bulls II and logged 256 minutes. This past Sunday, Alexandre scored his first professional goal to secure a 3-1 victory for New York Red Bulls II.
The defender has also made multiple appearances for the United States Youth National team, having recently been featured in the U16 side for the 2023 International Dream Cup in Fukushima, Japan. Alexandre has also been called up for multiple training camps with the Youth National Team, the most recent being in Florida this past January.
The MLS NEXT All-Stars will face off on July 19th at the Naval Academy’s Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. Kickoff is set for 10:30 a.m. ET with coverage on the MLS NEXT TikTok account (@mlsnext).
