HARRISON, N.J. (April 21, 2025) – Red Bulls Academy U-16s and U-18s have completed play in the 2025 Generations adidas Cup at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
The tournament was a great opportunity for development with both squads collectively playing 12 matches through seven days.
Through group play, the U-16s finished third in Group E with four points. The group defeated FC Dallas 3-2, earning a decisive penalty kick shootout win over Nashville SC, and fell 2-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
They would move onto the Premier Playoff, winning their first-round matchup against Chicago Fire FC 2-1. In the second round, they faced Inter Miami CF and lost 4-2 via penalty kicks.
The U-16s remaining matches were in the Showcase Group. They earned a huge 2-0 victory over FC Bayern Munich and fell 3-1 to Atlanta United.
Overall, the U-16s went 3-2-2 for 12 points and had a +2-goal differential.
The U-18s finished first in Group A with eight points, thanks to a 5-4 penalty kick shootout win over Leicester City FC, 1-0 victory against Minnesota United FC, and a 2-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
In the Championship Playoff the U-18 fell 1-0 to Colorado Rapids.
The group went undefeated in Showcase Group play, earning a 3-2 win over FC Dallas and a 2-0 victory over Club Necaxa.
Through the course of the entire tournament, the U-18s went 4-1-1 for 14 points. The group was strong defensively only letting up four goals, while they were able to score nine goals on the offensive end.
Both U-16s and U-18s will be back in action at home for league play on May 3 as they face New England Revolution. U-18s are set to kickoff at 1:00 p.m. while the U-16 will follow at 3:15 p.m.
