The New York Red Bulls currently have two players loaned out to other clubs for the 2022 season. Find out how they’re faring and what kind of impact they’re making at clubs across the world.
Omar Sowe (Breidablik Kópavogur)
The Red Bulls loanee has found his footing, and the back of the net, in his new home at Breidablik.
Sowe scored his first goal for the Icelandic first division side on May 22 against Fram Reykjavik. His first assist came in his third appearance for the club on May 7 against ÍA Akranes.
After making six appearances off the bench for Breidablik, Sowe made his first start for the club in a domestic cup match against Valur Reykjavik.
After going down 2-0 in the first 20 minutes of the match, Sowe scored to spark a comeback, in what would end up being a 6-2 win.
Sowe then made his first league start in a 2-1 victory against Leiknir Reykjavík on May 29.
Breidablik is currently running away from the pack in the Icelandic first division, having won all eight of their league games in the 2022 season. With 24 points, they are currently seven points clear of second place Stjarnan Gardabaer.
Sowe will get a taste of European nights this summer, with Breidablik being a part of the first qualifying round for the Europa Conference League.
The draw will take place on June 14.
Jake LaCava (Tampa Bay Rowdies)
LaCava is coming off a hot month of May for Tampa Bay, having scored in all three matches during the month.
In total, LaCava had three goals and an assist in 234 minutes played for the Rowdies in May. On the season, he has seven goals and two assists in 15 total appearances.
Those seven goals currently lead the team, and his six goals in the league are tied for sixth-most in the USL championship.
LaCava has definitely been a key piece for Tampa’s season. He has appeared in all 16 matches across all competitions this season.
His efforts have helped propel Tampa Bay into a playoff position 14 matches into the USL Championship season.
