Omar Sowe (Breidablik Kópavogur)

Sowe made his European competition debut and found the back of the net in a return to play in the Icelandic league during a big July for the 21-year-old.

Making his second start in league play on July 17, Sowe scored the opening goal 10 minutes into a 3-2 win over Keflavík ÍF. It’s Sowe’s third goal across all competitions for the side since making his move to Iceland in March. He now has appeared 13 times in the top division's season.

With 12 wins across 16 matches, Breidablik is in first place of the Úrvalsdeild.

Throughout July and early August, Sowe's come off the bench to help the team advance twice in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Breidablik advanced through the first qualifying round, 5-1 on aggregate, over Andorra’s UE Santa Coloma. Then it defeated Montenegro's FK Budućnost Podgorica, 3-2 across two legs, in the second qualifying round.

It’s the second straight year the club advanced to the third round of the Conference League – which held its inaugural tournament last year – and the team has now advanced six times in a UEFA competition.

Breidablik's European dreams came to an end, though, at the hands of İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. Across two legs, the Icelandic club fell 6-1.

Jake LaCava (Tampa Bay Rowdies)

The Red Bulls Academy product scored three goals and added an assist in July, moving his season totals up to 10 goals and three assists in 23 USL matches.

His production has helped Tampa Bay to a run of seven-straight wins and 13 consecutive matches unbeaten.

LaCava's top performance came in Tampa Bay’s mid-July outing against Loudoun United FC, helping the club to a 4-1 road win with a goal and an assist.

Coming off the bench in the second half, LaCava tallied the team’s opening goal with a one-time finish in the 64th minute.

That would open the flood gates, as Tampa Bay scored three more times in the next 18 minutes, including that third goal courtesy of a LaCava assist.
