Academy Match Recap: Montreal Impact/ New York Cosmos

New York Red Bulls Academy teams faced off against Montreal Impact Academy and New York Cosmos Academy on May 18 and 19.  


Red Bulls U-19’s tied Montreal Impact U-19’s, 3-3.

Omar Sowe opened up the scoring for RBNY in the 25th minute. The Impact would equalize not even two minutes later. Defender Jared Juleau regained the lead for New York with a goal in the 45th minute. New York would get an insurance goal from Scott Taylor in the 54th minute of action. The Impact would come back and score two goals late in the game to tie up the match. Sowe was named the man of the match, recording a goal and an assist on the day.


Red Bulls U-17’s tied the Montreal Impact, 2-2.


 The Impact would open the scoring in the 37th minute, but quickly after New York earned a penalty kick and it was converted by John Tolkin in the 43rd minute. After halftime, Montreal would find the lead again in the 51st minute. Nicola Rosamilia would equalize the match in the 67th minute and give the U-17’s a point on the day. Bryce Lebel had the assist on the goal and earned man of the match.


Red Bulls U-15’s fell to the Montreal Impact U-15’s, 3-1.


 Dantouma Toure scored the lone goal for the U-15’s in the 66th minute. Despite the result, Nicholas Rabiu earned man of the match for his assist on the lone goal. The U-15’s outshot the Impact, 21 to 13 and had several great chances to level the match in the second half.


Red Bulls U-15’s defeated New York Cosmos U-15’s, 5-1.

Kenan Hot was named man of the match, with two goals and an assist. Antonino Carramusa opened the scoring in the 20th minute off a pass from Juan Gonzalez. Hot would make it two in the 23rd minute. Robin Petske would add a third in the 46th minute off a ball from Hot. Nicholas Rabiu, who was man of the match of the Impact match, scored the fourth goal in the 60th minute of action. Finally, Hot would record his second goal of the match in the 65th minute.


Red Bulls U-14’s dominated the New York Cosmos U-14’s winning the match 6-2.

The Cosmos opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but Ezra Wildman would score a free-kick in the 11th minute to equalize. Lenny Aviles would give New York the lead in the 21st minute. Luke Ayaz would record a brace in three minutes extending New York’s lead to 4-1. Darsien Gabriel would keep the scoring going in the 46th minute off a cross from Kyle Evans. Finally, Luciano Sanchez would score the sixth of the match off a bending free-kick. Wildman was named man of the match for his performance.


Red Bulls U-13’s would continue the domination of New York Cosmos Academy defeating their U-13’s, 6-1.

 Patrick Shaw scored a hat-trick with goals in the 7th, 10th, and 62nd minutes. The other three goals were scored by Copeland Berkley, Bora Turker, and Maddon Ortiz. Ortiz was voted the man of the match for his performance at right-back.


The Academy Teams will be taking on Arlington Soccer Association on June 1st at Red Bulls Training Facility and then will travel to face Baltimore Armour on June 2nd.
