New York Red Bulls Academy teams posted a 4-0-1 record against the Players Development Academy on the weekend of May 10 at the PDA Soccer Complex.
Red Bulls U-19’s defeated PDA U-19’s, 3-2, with Omar Sowe scoring a brace within thirty minutes to propel his team to an early 2-0 lead. PDA would fire back scoring goals in the 79th and 90th minute, but unfortunately PDA gave up an own goal in the 90th minute to give the U-19’s the victory.
Red Bulls U-17’s had a great day by defeating the PDA U-17’s, 5-2. Roald Mitchell was the man of the match, scoring four goals on the day. Nicola Rosamilia rounded off the scoring with a strike in the 68th minute of action.
Red Bulls U-15’s continued the winning streak against PDA, when they defeated their U-15’s by a score of 4-1. Unlike the first two games, each goal was scored by a different player. Brandon Newman opened up the scoring in the 44th minute, followed by a goal from Carmelo Carbone only three minutes later. Arturo McConnochie put the team up three with a finish in the 65th minute, and then Elijah Hope sealed the victory with a strike in the 80th minute of action.
Red Bulls U-14’s dominated the PDA U-14’s winning by a score of 5-0. Ezra Widman was named Man of the Match, he scored two goals on the day. The two teams were neck in the neck within the first twenty minutes of the game until Widman opened up the scoring in the 26th minute. Luke Ayaz would put them up by two with a finish in the 49th minute. Luciano Sanchez would open the flood gates with the team’s fourth tally of the day. Finally, Curtis Ofori would finish the game with a late finish in the 80th minute.
Red Bulls U-13’s were able to gain a point after tying PDA U-13’s, 1-1. They were very dominant on the day but could not find the back of the net. Patrick Shaw opened up the scoring in the 4th minute of play. Unfortunately, PDA would strike back in the 21st minute to level the match. The U-13’s.
The Academy Teams will be taking on the Montreal Impact F.C. Academy on Saturday, May 18 and then be traveling to face the New York Cosmos Academy teams on Sunday, May 19.
