U15’s fight to 0-0 Draw with D.C. United
October 21, 2017: Red Bulls U14’s (0) vs. D.C. United (0)

The U15’s were unable to convert a chance to give them a leg up on DC United on the day, drawing 0-0. The game started out slowly, as both teams were feeling each other out. However, NYRB would soon begin to send balls through and have opportunities to put them ahead. Some decent last effort defending by DC United was enough to hold them off. DC did not create a ton of opportunities, but did have spells where they were dangerous. Goalkeeper Brian Toxtle was called into action on a number of occasions, including an incredible reflex save to push the ball off the crossbar. The teams were meant to be tied on the day, as the full 90 minutes went by and ended in a stalemate. The U15’s stay atop the Atlantic East Division, and remain undefeated.

Lineup: Brian Toxtle, Dion Ahmetaj (Omre Etienne 20’) (Justin Vallencillo 57’) , Justin Aguirre, Lucas Costa, Ethan Horrobin, Edwin Melendez, Gavin Tabije, Thomas Tulgar, Joey Zalinsky, Aidan Borra

The best chance of the first half came in the 21st minute from Scott Taylor whose shot was saved by a goal line clearance from a Philadelphia defender. In the second half we had three changes with Danny Jara coming on for Daniel Ramm in the 62nd minute, Amir Daley coming on for Joseph Zalinsky in the 72nd minute and Andrew Maia coming in for Balthazar Saunders in the 82nd minute. The Red Bulls hard work paid off in the 85th minute when Scott Taylor got the game-winning goal. The real question is what was better, the goal or his acrobatic celebration? Taylor took on a defender in the top of the box and curled a great effort to the top right corner.
