INSIDE THE 18: Daniel Edelman Dons Captains Armband for First Time

New York Red Bulls Homegrown midfielder Daniel Edelman will captain the team for the first time as the RBNY take on Atlanta United FC at Red Bull Arena on Saturday night.

The Warren, NJ native is starting his 57th regular season match for the Red Bulls.

Edelman is joined in the defensive midfield with Felipe Carballo, while Dennis Gjengaar, Lewis Morgan and Cameron Harper lead the attack with Dante Vanzeir.

The last time New York faced off against Atlanta United FC at Red Bull Arena, Edelman scored his second career MLS goal and the game-winning goal in a 4-0 win. Edelman’s two career MLS goals have both been scored at Red Bull Arena.

Carlos Coronel starts in goal for New York.

New York have never been defeated by Atlanta United FC at Red Bull Arena across all competitions with a 5-0-2 mark.

Dylan Nealis, Noah Eile, Andrés Reyes and John Tolkin get the nod along the backline.

Head Coach Sandro Schwarz will have Cory Burke, Ronald Donkor, Julian Hall, Elias Manoel, Ryan Meara, Serge Ngoma, Aidan O'Connor, Mohammed Sofo and Peter Stroud available off the bench.

Emil Forsberg, Sean Nealis, Wiki Carmona, Roald Mitchell and Kyle Duncan are out.
