Hassan Ndam will start for the first time this season for RBNY, as two short-handed sides face off in Toronto on Wednesday night.
Ndam gets a go on a backline of John Tolkin and Dylan Nealis. Omir Fernandez, Cameron Harper, Dru Yearwood and Peter Stroud all get nods to start as well.
This will be the 39th overall regular season meeting between the Red Bulls and Toronto, with New York holding the advantage in the overall series with a 20-9-9 mark, including a 5-7-7 mark on the road.Â
Elias Manoel, Tom Barlow and Wiki Carmona push the attack.
New York are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Toronto FC, and have only lost once in their last four trips to BMO Field.
Carlos Coronel starts in goal.
Coronel recorded his 23rd career shutout with the Red Bulls in their 1-0 win against New York City FC on Saturday. Coronel is now three shutouts shy of passing Tony Meola for second place in franchise history. The Brazilian goalkeeper also earned his 30th career victory with the Red Bulls. New York have only allowed 11 goals in 12 matches this season, which is tied for the second lowest in MLS.
Three players join the team on short-term loans, with Amos Shapiro-Thompson, O’Vonte Mullings and Davi Alexandre appearing on the bench alongside Jayden Reid, Ronald Donkor and Cory Buke. Ryan Meara will serve as backup goalkeeper.
Sean Nealis, Andrés Reyes and Cristian Cásseres Jr. all miss the match due to yellow card accumulation, while Luquinhas, Lewis Morgan, Frankie Amaya, Serge Ngoma, Kyle Duncan, Matt Nocita and Steven Sserwadda remain sidelined with injuries.
