INSIDE THE 18: Klimala, Yearwood Return to Starting Lineup

It may not be an MLS league game, but Gerhard Struber is not putting a heavily rotated side out for the Red Bulls' U.S. Open Cup Match against Hartford Athletic.

After starting on the bench against FC Dallas, Patryk Klimala and Dru Yearwood return to the starting lineup.

Yearwood will be paired with Frankie Amaya in the defensive midfield, while Klimala will start alone up front, with Lewis Morgan, Luquinhas, and Omir Fernandez providing support in the attacking midfield.

Ryan Meara, famous for his past performances in the USOC, makes his first start in goal since the 2020 MLS Playoffs.

Meara will have a back four of John Tolkin, Aaron Long, Sean Nealis, and Dylan Nealis in front of him. Dylan Nealis also makes his first start since March 20 against Columbus.

Struber will have AJ Marcucci, Tom Barlow, Cristian Cásseres Jr, Tom Edwards, Ashley Fletcher, Lucas Monzón, and Zach Ryan available on the bench.

This is the first time the two clubs have ever met, and New York's first U.S. Open Cup match since 2019.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+ and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.
