Another edition of the New York Derby will go down in a new competition on Thursday night, as the New York Red Bulls host New York City FC in the Leagues Cup Round of 32.

Starting in the midfield for RBNY will see Luquinhas, Omir Fernandez, Frankie Amaya and Daniel Edelman get the start.

This will be the 26th overall meeting across all competitions between the Red Bulls and New York City FC, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the series with a 14-8-3 mark. The Red Bulls have posted a 11-2-2 mark at Red Bull Arena against NYCFC, including 3-0-0 in matches at Red Bull Arena in outside competitions that are not MLS regular season or playoffs.

Up top, Dante Vanzeir and Tom Barlow will pair up.

Vanzeir recorded his first multi-goal game for New York in their 2-1 victory over Atletico de San Luis. Vanzeir has recorded five goals across all competitions, which is the most by a single player for New York this season.

Across the backline, John Tolkin, Sean Nealis, Andrés Reyes and Cameron Harper start.

Tolkin assisted on both goals Vanzeir scored against ASL and moved his total across all competitions this season to six, which is the most for the club. Tolkin currently ranks first in 2023 Leagues Cup in successful crosses with nine.

Carlos Coronel starts in goal.

Head Coach Troy Lesesne will have Elias Manoel, Peter Stroud, Dru Yearwood, Wiki Carmona, Ronald Donkor, Kyle Dunca, Jayden Reid, Hassan Ndam and Matt Nocita available off the bench. Ryan Meara and AJ Marcucci will serve as the two required backup goalkeepers, per Leagues Cup rules.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app, and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

Cory Burke, Lewis Morgan, Dylan Nealis, Serge Ngoma and Steven Sserwadda are sidelined.
