The New York Red Bulls are prepped for the New York Derby against their rivals at Red Bull Arena.
This will be the 20th regular season meeting between the Red Bulls and NYCFC, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the series with a 10-6-3 mark. The Red Bulls are 4-0-1 in their last five MLS matches against NYCFC at Red Bull Arena.
Omir Fernandez will start up top vs. NYCFC, while Lewis Morgan and Luquinhas support the attack.
The last time both teams played against each other, the Red Bulls defeated NYCFC, 3-0, in the Round of 16 of the U.S. Open Cup on June 22 at Red Bull Arena. Morgan, Luquinhas, and Bronx, N.Y. native Fernandez all scored goals in the victory.
Frankie Amaya and Cristian Cásseres Jr. lock down the defensive midfield.
Casseres, Jr. has played and started in seven New York Derby’s in his time with New York. Among active Red Bulls players, he has the most goals and assists against NYCFC with two a piece, including his game-winning goal against them in the last MLS regular season match between the two clubs on October 17.
John Tolkin, Aaron Long, Sean Nealis, Tom Edwards and Dylan Nealis make up the back line ahead of Carlos Coronel in goal.
Head Coach Gerhard Struber will have Tom Barlow, Patryk Klimala, Serge Ngoma, Dru Yearwood, Steven Sserwadda, Daniel Edelman, Cameron Harper, Andrés Reyes available off the bench. Ryan Meara will serve as backup goalkeeper.
