The New York Red Bulls 2024 MLS season gets underway at Nashville SC on Sunday afternoon.
RBNY have gone 13-10-5 in season opening matches.Â
Head Coach Sandro Schwarz takes the helm of the team and debuts his first Starting XI of the season.
Emil Forsberg will appear on the pitch for the New York Red Bulls following his addition in the offseason, captaining the side. Forsberg will look to provide service for forwards Elias Manoel and Dante Vanzeir.Â
Forsberg made 325 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig, while recording 71 goals and 68 assists. Forsberg has made 86 international appearances for Sweden, where he has scored 21 goals. During preseason, he recorded two goals and three assists for New York.Â
Peter Stroud, Frankie Amaya and Daniel Edelman complete the midfield for New York.Â
This will be the fifth overall meeting between New York and Nashville, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the series at 2-0-2.Â
Sean Nealis, Noah Eile, Dylan Nealis and Kyle Duncan start along the backline. Carlos Coronel starts in goal for RBNY. Eile will make his MLS debut.
Off the bench, Schwarz will have Julian Zakrzewski Hall, Roald Mitchell, Mohammed Sofo, Wiki Carmona, Lewis Morgan, Cameron Harper, Ronald Donkor, Andrés Reyes and Ryan Meara.
Mitchell and Sofo are both appearing on an MLS roster for the first time.Â
John Tolkin, Cory Burke, Serge Ngoma and Curtis Ofori are being held out of the match due to injury.
