INSIDE THE 18: Red Bulls Looking for Win on Decision Day

InsideThe18_16x9

The New York Red Bulls mostly control their own destiny on Decision Day: A win in Nashville all but puts them into their 14th consecutive postseason, barring a Chicago Fire win by eight (or more) goals.

RBNY will deploy Elias Manoel and Tom Barlow up top, with Luquinhas, Frankie Amaya, Omir Fernandez and Daniel Edelman in behind.

Barlow becomes the 19th outfield player in franchise history to play in every single regular season match in a season. He is only the fifth forward in franchise history to accomplish the feat and the first since Bradley Wright-Phillips in 2016.

John Tolkin, Sean Nealis, Andrés Reyes and Kyle Duncan start along the back line, ahead of Carlos Coronel in goal.

The Red Bulls defense recorded its 11th clean sheet of the season across all competitions in New York’s latest match. New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Carlos Coronel has now recorded eight MLS clean sheets, which ranks tied for seventh in MLS this year. Coronel has posted a 1-0-2 mark against Nashville SC in his career and has recorded two career clean sheets against the club.

Off the bench, Serge Ngoma makes his first appearance on a matchday roster in 2023. He’s joined by Julian Hall, Jorge Cabezas Hurtado, Wiki Carmona, Cameron Harper, Peter Stroud, Dru Yearwood and Dylan Nealis. Ryan Meara is the backup goalkeeper.

This will be the fourth overall regular season meeting between Nashville and the Red Bulls, with New York holding the advantage in the series with a 1-0-2 mark. The Red Bulls have only played in Nashville one time in club history, which was on MLS Decision Day in 2021, where they claimed a 1-1 draw.

Dante Vanzeir, Lewis Morgan, Cory Burke and Hassan Ndam are all sidelined with injuries.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app, and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
