Tom Edwards returns to the Starting XI for the New York Red Bulls as they prepare to take on FC Cincinnati on Saturday evening in Ohio.
Edwards had been sidelined with an injury, but is back alongside Aaron Long, Dylan Nealis, John Tolkin and Cameron Harper on the back line. Carlos Coronel starts in goal.
Coronel recorded his 18th shutout of his Red Bulls career on Sunday, July 3 against Sporting KC. He moved into sole possession of third place in franchise history in shutouts, only behind Tony Meola and Luis Robles. Coronel has posted five shutouts this season, which ranks tied for eighth in MLS.
Sean Nealis will miss the match due to a red card in the previous game.
Frankie Amaya and Cristian CĂ¡sseres Jr. lock down the defensive midfield. Patryk Klimala, Luquinhas and Lewis Morgan lead the attack for New York.
Head Coach Gerhard Struber will have Andrés Reyes available off the bench for the first time this season, as he had been working back from an offseason foot injury. Dru Yearwood, Steven Sserwadda, Daniel Edelman, Caden Clark, Omir Fernandez, Tom Barlow and Serge Ngoma are also available off the bench. Ryan Meara will serve as the backup goalkeeper.
Clark and Edelman return to the matchday roster following their Concacaf victory with the U-20 United States Men's Youth National Team, helping lock up a spot in the 2024 Olympics.Â
Sserwadda joins the senior team on an MLS contract for the first time.
