Wiki Carmona will get the nod to start for the first time in 2023, as he will be on the pitch for the first whistle for the New York Red Bulls in Montréal on Saturday night.
This will be the 25th overall regular season meeting between New York and Montréal, with New York holding the advantage in the overall series with a 13-9-2 record. The Red Bulls have won three of the last five outings against Montréal, including the last time out in a 1-0 win for the Red Bulls at Stade Saputo on August 31, 2022. This was the first time New York has won in Montréal since 2012.
Carmona will push the attack with Cory Burke, Omir Fernandez. Cameron Harper, Cristian CĂ¡sseres Jr. and Daniel Edelman will all start, too.
Fernandez scored his first goal of the season on Saturday, April 15 against Houston Dynamo FC at Red Bull Arena. Fernandez has tallied 10 MLS career goals and has record five at Red Bull Arena. The Bronx, N.Y. native has one career goal against CF Montréal.
John Tolkin, Sean Nealis, Andrés Reyes and Kyle Duncan will start along the backline, with Carlos Coronel in goal.
Hassan Ndam, Dylan Nealis, Dru Yearwood, Peter Stroud, Elias Manoel and Tom Barlow are available off the bench for Head Coach Gerhard Struber. Ryan Meara will serve as backup goalkeeper.
Lewis Morgan, Luquinhas, Serge Ngoma and Frankie Amaya remain out as they work back from injuries, as well as Matt Nocita and Steven Sserwadda.
