New York Red Bulls II return home to battle Group F leaders Pittsburgh Riverhounds
Here are the Three Keys to the Game:
Finding Kyle Zajec
New York Red Bulls II Captain Kyle Zajec recorded his first professional assist in the club’s victory over Philadelphia Union II on July 22. Even though it was his first, Zajec has proven he can be effective with the ball going forward. He leads NYRB II in chances created on the season with 9, the next closest player has four. The ability to find Zajec will open up the game and provide NYRB II with plenty of chances.
Game of Firsts
In the victory over Philadelphia Union II, the match saw many players earn their first goal, assist, start, or appearance. These players impressed with their performances, which included Deri Corfe tallying his first goal and assist and Jake Lacava having his first multi-assist match. Academy player Daniel Edelman recorded his first score for the club, while Academy player Dantouma Toure registered his first assist. These players keep gaining experience and will keep making an impact as they keep getting minutes.
Shut Down Forbes
Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Kernado Forbes has been a key piece in the club’s midfield so far this season. He has registered four assists in three matches and has created ten chances. He has helped lead the Riverhounds to the top of Group F early on in the return to play. NYRB II will need to shut him down to limit the amount of chances Pittsburgh has on Sunday afternoon.
