Tim Cahill and the Socceroos face their toughest test on Wednesday, entering an essential must-win game against the Netherlands. After falling to Chile in their opening game last Friday, Australia needs three points to realistically keep their dreams of advancing out of the group alive.
In Australia’s first game, the Red Bull star scored in vintage-Cahill style, powering home a header that cut his team’s deficit to 2-1 late in the first half. Despite turning the momentum in their favor, Australia couldn’t find an equalizer and eventually fell 3-1.

The Netherlands are coming off arguably the most impressive performance in the 2014 World Cup so far, dismantling defending World Cup champion Spain 5-1 in their first game in group stage.
Powered by goals from Robin van Persie (2), Arjen Robben (2) and Stefan de Vrij, the Netherlands jumped to the top of Group B.
Australia currently sits in third in the group, one spot above last place Spain based on goal differential. Kickoff for Wednesday’s match between Australia and the Netherlands is set for 12 p.m. ET.
