October 16, 2005 – Bradley clinches playoffs for MetroStars
On October 16, 2005, Michael Bradley scored his first career MLS goal, a game-winner that pushed the MetroStars into the playoffs. Bradley’s goal came just two weeks after his father, Bob Bradley, was fired as the head coach.
With the MetroStars and Chivas USA tied at 0-0 in the 49th minute, Bradley headed home a Mark Lisi cross to break the deadlock. Amado Guevara would add the clincher in injury time as the MetroStars went on to a 2-0 victory and into the playoffs.
Bradley’s game-winner was his only goal for the Metro. The midfielder made 30 appearances in two seasons with the MetroStars and added four assists to go along with his one goal.
On Saturday, Bradley will play his first MLS game in New York since October 1, 2005 when Toronto FC visits Red Bull Arena. Toronto is currently three points out of playoff spot with a midweek matchup against Houston on Wednesday.
