New York Red Bulls part ways with Andrew Jean-Baptiste

HARRISON, N.J. (June 26, 2015) - The New York Red Bulls have waived center back Andrew Jean-Baptiste, the club announced today.

Jean-Baptiste signed with New York ahead of the 2015 season. The Brooklyn native made one appearance for the Red Bulls in the U.S. Open Cup match against Atlanta Silverbacks FC.

The Brooklyn native was drafted by Portland in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. He spent two seasons with the Timbers before being traded to Chivas USA, where he spent the 2014 season. Jean-Baptiste has made 41 MLS appearances overall.

The New York Red Bulls are back in action on Sunday, when they make the short trip to the Bronx for the second edition of the New York Derby. Kickoff against NYC FC at Yankee Stadium is set for 5 p.m., with coverage starting at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN.
