New York Red Bulls Set to Participate in 2025 Leagues Cup and 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

The New York Red Bulls are set to participate in the 2025 Leagues Cup and the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, MLS announced today. All 30 MLS clubs will participate in at least one North American Cup competition this season.

The Red Bulls will partake in Leagues Cup for the third straight season. New York reached the Round of 16 during the inaugural Leagues Cup in 2023, before dropping a penalty shootout to the Philadelphia Union. In 2024, the Red Bulls tied both group stage matches against Toronto FC and Pachuca but lost both penalty shootouts and were eliminated in the group stage.

This will be the 26th time that the Red Bulls have entered the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. New York have posted a 27-22-4 mark in franchise history in Open Cup matches. The Red Bulls have been to the U.S. Open Cup final twice in 2003 and 2017. New York have also reached the U.S. Open Cup semifinals six times including in 2022. The club last appeared in the Open Cup in 2023, where they fell in the Round of 16 to FC Cincinnati in penalty kicks.

New York begins their 2025 MLS regular season campaign, when they travel to TQL Stadium to take on FC Cincinnati on Saturday, February 22. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
