As we look ahead to the Spring 2025 season, Head Coach London Woodberry is excited to take on the challenge of coaching this talented 2011 group. This is a team full of potential, and the blend of skill, enthusiasm, and hunger to learn is something special. After a successful 2024, where they saw great development and growth, Woodberry is excited to continue pushing these players to new heights.
One of the key highlights of the spring campaign will be the group’s trip to Italy at the end of February, where they’ll compete in a top-tier international tournament against some of Europe’s best academies. This is an incredible opportunity for the players to test themselves against elite competition, experience a different style of play, and build a competitive edge. It’s an exciting chance to challenge the players both tactically and mentally, as they’ll be facing some of the best young talents from around the world.
Back at home, there is a core group of players from the 2011 birth year who are really starting to show their ability. Many of these players are pushing for minutes with the U15s as they aim to make an impact during their playoff push. Their development has been impressive, and they are making their case for higher-level competition, which is a testament to their work ethic and commitment.
As we move through MLS NEXT, we are going to focus on fine-tuning the tactical side of the game—ensuring that passing, positioning, and understanding of team dynamics continue to improve. They’ll keep building the foundation of technical skills but will also be asking the players to think critically about their decisions on the field, whether it’s in a high-pressure situation or against high-level competition in Italy.
The overall goal for the season is to maintain a high level of competitiveness, give all players meaningful opportunities, and continue to prepare them for the next level. Whether they’re competing on the big stage in Europe or pushing for minutes with the U15s, they are all committed to making sure this group is ready for whatever challenges come next.
Here’s to an exciting season ahead—Woodberry can’t wait to see how these players continue to develop, both individually and as a team.
