Omir Fernandez made his 100th appearance for the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night in their 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution.
In his 100th match, Fernandez assisted teammate Wiki Carmona to give the Red Bulls the lead in the 85th minute and secure three points.
Fernandez’s assist was his third of the season, also making it his third consecutive match with an assist. A standout player for the Red Bulls, the 24-year-old midfielder has also recorded two goals and 21 key passes this season.
In May of this year, the Bronx native put the Red Bulls up in their derby with New York City – allowing New York to take the win with his 76th minute goal. His performance earned him Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 12.
Fernandez was signed to a homegrown contract by the Red Bulls in 2019, leaving Wake Forest to go straight from the college level to the first team in the MLS.
Since then, the Red Bulls Academy product has tallied 11 goals and 12 assists over his tenure with New York.
Fernandez has been a critical and consistent piece of New York’s attacking midfield. With 100 MLS appearances under his belt, the milestone is a testament to Fernandez’s reliability and efforts on the pitch.
