The RDS Showcase Teams represent an opportunity for the top talents in the RDS to participate in competitive tournaments on a supplementary basis.
Each year, Winter showcase teams are selected from top players in RDS during the previous annual cycle and are formed in time for indoor tournament play during the winter months.
This year’s winter showcase groups started on a high note as our 2016 Boys group excitingly won their tournament, clinching their victory in sudden death PKs.
This winter season also marked the first time for our U9 – U12 Boys groups playing in a festival format against Philadelphia Unions PPP and NYCFC City Select programs. The groups were excited to play against their MLS counterparts and braved the cold temperatures to go undefeated on the day!
The momentum carried over to when our 2015 and 2014 Boys groups as they finished first in their respective tournaments and our 2013 Boys finishing 2nd, losing by a late goal in a tight affair.
February concluded with a great day of football for some of our girls’ groups, as the 2012 girls, who due to last minute illness had to bring in players for our 2013 group to play, finished third. Later, our 2010 and 2011 Girls (Playing a year up) placed first and second respectively in the 2010 Girls bracket.
We look ahead to our March tournaments as we close out yet another great Winter Showcase season!
