The Red Bulls Academy picked up another big win in the Academy Finals Week, as the U-16 club topped the Chicago Fire 1-0 Thursday night in Houston.

It took only one goal to make the decision on the night, and who more fitting than captain Adam Najem, who placed a second-half goal into the back of the net past Fire goalkeeper Kyle Dal Santo.

New York’s strong defensive effort was made possible by the solid back line. On the rare occasion that they were unable to snuff out the Chicago attack, goalkeeper Evan Luoro was between the posts to backstop the clean sheet.

The win gives New York six points in the group, as they defeated Pateadores Tuesday night for the first win of the week.

The Red Bulls will next face Charlotte Soccer Academy Saturday, July 21, at 8 PM CT.
