Academy Match Recap: Arlington SA / Baltimore Armour

New York Red Bulls Academy teams faced off against Arlington Soccer Association and Baltimore Armour on June 1 and June 2.  


Red Bulls U-19’s tied Baltimore Armour U-19’s, 0-0.

The U-19’s played a great match, which saw goalkeeper Matthew Goodman record the clean sheet. With the tie, the U-19’s clinched a wild card in the DA playoffs, finishing fifth in their division. They have qualified for Group A of the 2019 DA playoffs.  


Red Bulls U-17’s defeated Baltimore Armour U-17’s, 7-1.

Roald Mitchell recorded a brace within the first seventeen minutes of the match giving the U-17’s an early 2-0 lead. Defender John Tolkin would increase the lead with his goal in the 23rd minute and would take a 3-0 lead going into the half. Nicola Rosamilia would find the back of the net in the 51st minute, but Baltimore would get a goal back in the 58th minute. The U-17’s would score three more goals in the match from Conner Maurer, Diogo Rebelo, and Cristian LoGrasso. Roald Mitchall finished the season as the leading goal scorer with 12 goals. The U-17’s will compete in the USDA U17 Showcase in San Diego, June 18-22.


Red Bulls U-15’s lost to Arlington Soccer Association U-15’s, 2-0.

The U-15’s lost their last game of the season to Arlington Soccer Association. They finished third in their division with a total of 47 points, earning 2.14 points per match. Nicholas Rabiu lead the team with 13 goals scored for the season. Serge Ngoma and Kenan Hot were fantastic down the stretch combining for 15 goals.


Red Bulls U-14’s defeated Arlington Soccer Association U-14’s, 3-0.

Gabriel Ruitenberg opened the scoring for the U-14’s with his goal in the 39th minute. Luciano Sanchez would add another goal to the U-14’s lead in the 54th minute. Finally, Darsein Gabriel would finish the match off, finding the back of the net in the 72nd minute of play.


Red Bulls U-14’s defeated Baltimore Armour U-14’s, 2-0.

The second match of the weekend for the U-14’s took an unexpected turn when defender Erick Ruiz was sent off in the 43rd minute. Despite being a down a man, the U-14’s were able to get on the board, when midfielder Ezra Widman opened up the scoring in the 60th minute. Shortly after, defender Curtis Ofori added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute. The U-14’s finished their season on a great note winning seven straight matches. Widman finished the season with a team leading 14 goals. Forward Luciano Sanchez contributed twelve goals on the season.


Red Bulls U-13’s defeated Arlington Soccer Association U-13’s, 4-1.

Patrick Shaw was on fire once again scoring a brace, with his goals coming in the 27th and 31st minutes. He has scored six goals in his last three matches. Copeland Berkley scored in the 34th minute to give the U-13’s a 3-1 lead. Finally, Bora Tucker would record the last goal of the day for the U-13’s in the 47th minute.  Shaw was named man of the match for his efforts.

Kaief Tomlinson scored his fifth goal of the season to open up the scoring. Victor Signes scored the insurance goal to seal the victory for the U-13’s. Defender Maddox Ortiz was named man of the match for his efforts. Forward Patrick Shaw finished the season with 25 goals in 24 games, and Bora Tucker added 12 goals for the season.
