Cristian Cásseres Jr. continues his participation in this year’s 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament with Venezuela’s Under-23.
Venezuela is in Group A with Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador. So far in the tournament, the New York Red Bulls’ midfielder has started both of Venezuela’s first two games and played 154 minutes.
La Vinotinto started Group A action with a 1-0 loss to Chile, but on Saturday against Ecuador, Venezuela’s U-23 was able to get a 1-0 win.
Cásseres Jr. gave the assist of the winning goal, scored by Yeferson Soteldo.
Venezuela still has two games to go in group play. The first one will be Monday night against Colombia at 8:30 p.m., and the last one will be January 30 against Argentina at 6:00 p.m..
If Venezuela finishes in first or second place of Group A, it will move to the final phase with a chance to win one of the two South American spots in the 2020 Summer Olympics.
