New York Red Bulls’ Concacaf Nations League representatives Kemar Lawrence and Derrick Etienne, Jr. both started and contributed to their countries group stage wins over Suriname and Nicaragua, respectively.
Lawrence started for the Reggae Boyz Saturday against Suriname and played 90 minutes, recording an assist to Philadelphia Union’s Cory Burke in the seventh minute, en route to a 2-1 victory.
Etienne, Jr. made his presence felt on the pitch starting for Haiti against Nicaragua, scoring off a header in the 30th minute of the match to put Haiti up 2-0.
Both Jamaica and Haiti sit tied for first place on points as they look to qualify for the 2019 Gold Cup. The first ten teams qualify for this summer’s tournament.
Both players will return to training for this week’s Eastern Conference Championship first leg against Atlanta United FC set for Sunday at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN.
