HARRISION, N.J. (January 18, 2023) – New York Red Bulls defender John Tolkin has been named to the United States Men’s National Team roster for their upcoming friendlies against Serbia and Colombia in January, U.S. soccer announced today.

This will mark the first time Tolkin has been named to a senior United States Men’s National Team roster. The Chatham, N.J. native was most recently invited to a United States U-20 camp in November, where he participated in trainings with the senior team. Tolkin and the United States will take on Serbia on January 25 and then face Colombia on January 28.

Tolkin, 20, is entering his fourth season with the club and recently signed a new four-year MLS contract on October 5, 2022. The homegrown defender has made 59 MLS appearances for New York, where he has recorded two goals and five assists. Last season, Tolkin set new career-highs in games played (31), games started (31), minutes played (2,748), assists (3), and shots (33).

Tolkin was named No. 6 overall on the 2022 MLS 22 Under 22 list. He has received multiple call-ups to the United States Youth National teams, including eight with the U.S. U-20’s. Tolkin will be seeking his first cap with the United States Men’s National Team.
