New York Red Bulls Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel Selected to Paraguay National Team Roster for June Friendlies

HARRISON, N.J. (May 31, 2024) – New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Carlos Coronel has been selected to the Paraguay National Team roster for their June friendlies.

Coronel, 27, is in his fourth season with New York, where he has made 115 MLS appearances and recorded 32 shutouts. His 32 shutouts rank second in franchise history, while his 44 wins with the Red Bulls, ranks third in franchise history and is only five wins from passing Tony Meola.

Coronel and Paraguay will first participate in three international friendlies as they prepare for 2024 Copa America. They will face off against Peru on June 7, Chile on June 11, and then Panama on June 16.

Paraguay is set to participate in 2024 Copa America, the group stage of the tournament for Paraguay will begin on June 24 against Colombia. Followed by a match against Brazil on June 28 and then they will round out group stage play on July 2 against Costa Rica.

The goalkeeper has made six career appearances for Paraguay, where he as recorded three shutouts. He made his debut for Paraguay on September 7, 2023, against Peru in a 2026 CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup qualifying match. This will mark Coronel’s first appearance in Copa America in his career.
