The New York Red Bulls new Venezuelan signing Wikelman Carmona is ready to begin his journey with our club. From his home in Venezuela, he sent over his first impressions as a new Red Bull.
“My goals with the Red Bulls,” said Carmona. “First, to maintain myself there, give good performances, work hard everyday so I can move up, improve as a footballer and person. Always give my best to achieve my dreams.”
The 17-year-old, soon to turn 18 on the 24th of this month, had some of his first international experience in the 2019 South-American U-17 Championship. In that Venezuelan team, he was the youngest of the group and wore the team’s no. 10 jersey.
“My experience with the U-17 was an unforgettable experience for me since it was one of my first international tournaments with my national team,” he said. “To be the no. 10, even if I was the youngest in the group, made me feel proud, confident in myself and very happy.”
When he arrives in New York, his compatriot Cristian Cásseres Jr. will be here waiting to help him out as he adapts to his new home and club.
“For me it’s very important to know that I’ll have a teammate like Cristian Cásseres at the New York Red Bulls because I know that he will help me adapt quickly to the style of play,” said Carmona. “He’ll help me get to know my teammates quickly. Thanks to him, I’ll say that everything will be easier.”
As he prepares to start his RBNY chapter, Carmona promises to always do his best to leave a smile on our supporters.
“My message to Red Bull fans, I want to tell them that I’m heading over there to give my all,” he said. “To always make you smile in each game and training session, and I hope to have all your support during our matches.”
